Embassy closures

I am not a “news person”. In fact, I only get to know updates through the tweets and FB posts that my friends are posting. I got to know very late about the intention of closing the Philippine Embassies. With that, I am not even sure in which countries they are pertaining to.
Being an ex-OFW, I know how Embassies played a role in our lives. I couldn’t say a “big” role as I have not experienced a so-good-encounter with them but yes, at some point, it helped us made our lives easier.
- When I needed to renew my passport, I didn’t have to be in a long queue as how it normally works. In fact, I got my renewed passport just after a couple of hours.
- Whatever an OFW had to pay before going on vacation was settled through their office. Again, making our lives easier from not engaging ourselves to a long queue matters a lot. I just want to emphasize that “Ang bawat oras na nababawas sa bakasyon ng mga OFWs ay malaking kawalan sa amin”.
I don’t have to go in detailed. We know how Embassies work. Some officials do not even care, we know that. That’s one of the unfortunate facts that OFWs know already. But closing down their offices without getting a public consultation? It is a big no no!
Just think about those runaway OFWs who gambled their lives from doing so? Where would they run to?
Until unless you have a perfect answer and solution to this question and situation, think again Mr. President Noynoy! “Kung yun ngang may mga embahada tayo, ambabagal pa din ng aksyon ng mga opisyal sa pagtulong, paano na lang kapag tuluyan pang nawala ang mga ito?”

i must agree, embassies are part of the government services to their people overseas + aren’t they reeking money from their remittances, anyway. the least they can do is provide assistance to these people especially in times of needs…

I strongly dis agree sa another unbrilliant decision ng pamahalaang ito…
I am yes to the creation of a department for OFW. To have a dept who will really look into issues like this and ensure that the welfare of our OFWs are well taken care off.

Since the day I learned about this news, I felt terrible. The same feeling when I learned that two years will be added to the secondary level. How I wish they would say more jobs for the Filipino People!!
